Norwegian skier Eric Valnes won the race from the overall start in classic style during the Tour de Ski stage in Italy’s Val di Fiemme.
Valnes covered the 15 km distance in 50 minutes 50.6 seconds. The Swede came second William Poromaa (lag – 0.9 seconds), the first three were closed by the Swiss Cyril Fendrich (+1.1). The leader of the general stage race classification, Norwegian Harald Østberg Amundsen (+7.9 seconds), finished sixth.
Amundsen is 1 minute 34 seconds ahead of Valnes, second in the general classification of the Tour de Ski. Third place is occupied by another Norwegian, Martin Levström Nyenget (+1.42).
On Sunday the final race of the stage race will take place – a mass start of 10 km freestyle. Tour de Ski races are included in the World Cup rankings.
