German tennis players beat Poland in the final
Team Germany became winner second draw of the team tournament United Cup, which took place in Australia (Perth and Sydney). In the final, German tennis players achieved a strong-willed victory over the representatives Poland – 2:1.
Iga Szwiatek brought Poland the first point, beating Angelique Kerber – 6:3, 6:0. Germany equalized the score through the efforts of Alexander Zverev, who saved two match points in a duel with Hubert Hurkacz.
The fate of the title was determined in the doubles match. Zverev and Laura Siegemund beat the duo Hurkacz / Šwiatek and brought Germany the final victory.
United Cup 2024 was held in Australia from December 29 to January 7. 18 teams took part in the tournament, competing for a prize fund of $10 million.
