Vitali Klitschko: Beckenbauer is a man with a big heart. He supported Ukraine both during the Revolution of Dignity and when Russia invaded our land

The great German passed away last Sunday

Legendary Ukrainian boxer, former world heavyweight champion, currently mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klichko reacted to the death of the famous football player, coach and functionary Franz Beckenbauer.

“Franz Beckenbauer has passed away. An era in world football has passed…”

“My brother and I knew Franz and were friends for many years. A great professional and a person with a big heart. Frank, kind, sympathetic.”

“They called him Kaiser Franz. He lived football and created it as art. And fans have been arguing for years who is greater in football – Pele or Beckenbauer.”

“He supported Ukraine in its democratic European aspirations. Both during the Revolution of Dignity and when Russia invaded our land.”

“Blessed memory of a truly great professional in his field and a real Man… Franz, you remain to live in our hearts…”

Let us remind you that on January 7, Franz Beckenbauer died at the age of 78. He left this world following the Brazilian Mario Zagallo, who, like Kaiser Franz, won the World Cup in two capacities – player and coach. From now on, the only living person with a similar achievement remains the Frenchman Didier Deschamps.
