Athletistic/Swimming. Russian swimmer Yulia Efimova shared her opinion on the possibility of changing citizenship in order to participate in the Olympic Games in an interview for the “Discipline” project.

The legendary athlete, three-time Olympic medalist and six-time world champion, admitted that although she understands the motivation of people who decide to change their citizenship to participate in competitions, she herself prefers to compete without a flag or anthem, because she remains loyal to Russia.

Efimova said she was repeatedly offered to change her citizenship due to the fact that she was training in America, but did not consider herself a representative of another country. According to her, after a long sporting career under the Russian flag, it is difficult for her to imagine competing for another country.
