Two-time Olympic swimming champion Denis Pankratov told he would be interested to see China’s three-time Olympic champion Sun Yang at the Friendship Games.
According to the selection criteria, Sun Yang will not be able to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, for which he was preparing, according to Chinese media, during the disqualification period. The swimming competitions of the Friendship Games will take place in September 2024 in Yekaterinburg.

– He’s a world star. Why not? At that time, his disqualification period will end, so there will be no obstacles or problems. I would love to see him at our competitions, see how our guys compete with him. Sun Yang is subject to a four-year ban which expires in May 2024. In 2018, he smashed a test tube containing his sample with a hammer in front of doping control officers who came to test him. He initially refused to give urine, then he smashed the container with a hammer and extracted a blood sample. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) suspended Sun Yang for four years and three months for violating anti-doping rules. The suspension period begins on February 28, 2020, due to which the swimmer missed the Tokyo Olympics.
