Athletistic/OI-2024. Former goalkeeper of the Czech national team and champion of the 1998 Nagano Olympics Dominik Hasek expressed support for Ukrainian footballers who appealed to the French authorities regarding the admission of Russian athletes to the Olympics of 2024.

In early January, Ukrainian media reported that players of the Ukrainian youth team wrote a letter of appeal to French President Emmanuel Macron asking him not to allow Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Among the players who signed the appeal are Chelsea midfielder Mikhail Mudrik, Shakhtar midfielder Georgy Sudakov and Benfica goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin.

Dominique Hasek emphasized his support and expressed the opinion that French politicians can make the right decision regarding the admission of Russian athletes to the Olympic Games, thereby supporting the relevant principles or fundamentally respecting fairness.

“French politicians can allow Russian athletes to enter the country for the Olympics or make the right decision,” Hasek, 58, said on his social media page.

  • Hasek supported Polish grandmaster Duda, who refused to shake hands with the Russian chess player
