Ex-Metalist midfielder Xavier arrested for non-payment of child support

The football player’s side has already filed a counterclaim

Former midfielder Metalist Clayton Xavier arrested by Brazilian police.

It is noted that the ex-football player of the Kharkov club owed alimony payments to his ex-wife. We are talking about an amount of about 6 thousand euros for June, July and August 2023, and the amount may increase due to the timing of the delay.

Shavier’s side filed a counterclaim, in which they report a demand to review the amount of alimony payments. According to Shavier’s lawyer, his client paid the amount he was financially capable of. Now Clayton is not able to continue making payments in the same amount.

Let us remember that Xavier played for Metalist from 2010 to 2015. In total, the Brazilian played 147 matches for the Kharkov club, in which he scored 59 goals.

Together with Metalist, Shavier became the silver medalist of the 2012/13 Ukrainian Championship, and also finished in third place with the Kharkov team three times. In January 2019, the Brazilian completed his professional career.

In May 2022, Metalist 1925 announced an agreement with the children’s football school of the ex-Metalist player, where Clayton’s business partner is another ex-football player of the Kharkov club and the Ukrainian national team, Edmar. The football school is based in the state of Alogao, where more than 80 children train.

The cooperation between Metalist 1925 and the Clayton Xavier football school provides an opportunity for Brazilian children to get into Ukrainian professional football. In turn, students of the Metalist 1925 Academy will have the opportunity to train in Brazil.
