The promoter is confident in Anthony, but he admits that he may be biased
Eddie Hearnpromoter of former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshuashared his expectations from the confrontation between his ward and the ex-UFC champion Francis Ngannou in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
“Francis Ngannou is a very dangerous fighter and they will undoubtedly train as hard as they can to win.”
“I continue to believe that AJ will show you the true level of boxing in this fight. But look, I’ve been wrong before. I’m a fan of AJ. And the reason people are interested in this fight is because they understand that this is a dangerous fight right now. They understand that AJ has to win, but Ngannou is serious.”
Earlier, promoter Hearn announced that Joshua would fight Ngannou next in the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The official press conference dedicated to the event will be held on January 15 in London.
The fight is expected to take place on March 9. Anthony’s fight with Deontay Wilder was scheduled for this date before the American lost to Joseph Parker. Hearn stated that the fight with Wilder is dead because Deontay is no longer at the level he was previously.
There is a high probability that the fight between Filip Hrgovic and Joseph Parker will take place on the undercard of this fight.
At the end of December, Joshua confidently defeated Otto Wallin, who refused to continue the fight after the 5th round, as part of the “Day of Reckoning”. Anthony stated that he was ready to fight the next fight with anyone.
Ngannou lost a decision to WBC champion Tyson Fury in his only boxing fight. The Cameroonian made a good impression against the current champion title holder, knocking down the “Gypsy King” and inflicting several cuts on the Briton.
