The International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) has completed the procedure for ratifying the world record Kliment Kolesnikov in November, the record was officially confirmed, the organization’s press service told .
Kolesnikov broke the world record in the 50 meters at the Russian Cup final in Kazan on July 27, 2023. In the swimming semi-final, he clocked 23.55 seconds and surpassed the feat of the American Hunter Armstrong (23.71). The Russian’s result is now official. Previously, World Aquatics had already ratified Kolesnikov’s short course world record against the backdrop of the suspension of Russian athletes (22.11).
“Kliment Kolesnikov’s file was ratified on November 8,” the organization’s press service told .
Kolesnikov is 23 years old, the swimmer is a silver and bronze medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.
