Minister of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov told that the skiers who arrived at the stage of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Cup in Mirny had no complaints about the course.
On January 11, the fifth stage of the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup in cross-country skiing begins in Mirny.
“This is the first truly major cross-country ski competition at the new ski and biathlon complex. Many thanks to our friends and partners – the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Elena Valerievna Vyalba – for believing in us and entrusting us with such a great start. Of course, when designing and building the ski and biathlon complex, we expected that at least this level of competition would be held there, especially since specialists from the federation carried it out ; there are a lot of nuances there.
We thus have facilities worthy of the country, where we will organize competitions. We hope everyone enjoys it. There are no complaints about the training that skiers who have already arrived undergo. All competition regulations were followed, we hope the guys will show a decent result. More than 200 skiers from more than forty regions of the country will take part in the fifth stage of the Cup of Russia, there will be more than a hundred representatives of Tatarstan and a remarkable competition. We ask everyone to come to our resort in Mirny. Entrance to the stadium is free, so everyone is welcome: there will be a cultural and entertainment program, pastries, souvenir shopping arcades and hot tea.

— Residents of Tatarstan love winter sports. We have dynamically developed ice hockey, bandy, figure skating, skiing and biathlon. Almost the entire range of these sports. With the construction and opening of this resort, the school and another facility that exists in the Republic, we are already looking good in skiing. There is a project to build another figure skating school, we hope to implement this project this year, which will give a certain impetus to the development of figure skating. There are some developments regarding the curling center, we are working on this issue in collaboration with the federation. Plus biathlon: so far we have no serious achievements there, but with the presence of a new complex we hope to make progress here too. Kazan is the center of sports not only in summer, but also in winter, and we hope to move in this direction,” Leonov told .
