The Turks almost turned the game around, but still the Ukrainian team managed to snatch victory with a difference of two sets
SK Prometheus in a dramatic playoff round showdown CEV Cup beat Turkish Fenerbahce – 3:1.
The Ukrainian team already played a nominally home match in the Romanian Mioveni. Quite confidently, Prometheus won the first two sets and was ready to aim for a fifth major victory in the tournament in a row.
But it was not there. Fernerbahce added on and took the third game for himself. Moreover, the guests created big problems for the Ukrainians in the fourth set, constantly leading the score. And so, with the score 15:20 not in their favor, the Ukrainian team managed to make a decisive breakthrough and eventually snatch victory – 26:24.
Let us remind you that in the two previous stages, Prometheus confidently beat the Dutch Lycurgus (Groningen) and the Serbian Partizan, without losing a single set to his opponents.
The return match will take place in Istanbul on January 18. The winner will advance to the quarter finals.
