France’s Garcia and Mladenovic reached the final without a fight
Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok and her doubles partner Elena Ostapenko from Latvia withdrew from the tournament WTA 500 in Australian Adelaide before the semi-final match.
To reach the final, Lyudmila and Elena had to fight with two French women – Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic. The fight was scheduled for the morning of January 11.
A little earlier, Ostapenko, at the same event, but in singles, knocked out Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk from the quarterfinals.
Let us recall that during the tournament, Kichenok and Ostapenko beat Jasmine Paolini and Lyudmila Samsonova, and then advanced to the semifinals due to the withdrawal of their rivals, Alexandra Sosnovich and Katerina Sinyakova.
Earlier in 2024, Lyudmila and Elena won the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane.
Lyudmila Kichenok, her sister Nadezhda, as well as Angelina Kalinina and Marta Kostyuk will perform in doubles at the first major of the year – Australian Open 2024. The main draw of the tournament will take place from January 14 to 28.
