Olympic diving champion and RT journalist Elena Vaitsekhovskaya expressed her opinion on the men’s short program at the European Figure Skating Championships in Kaunas.
The short program was won by the representative of France Adam Xiao Lui Fa , scoring 94.13 points. The second place was taken by the Swiss Lukas Brichgi (91.17), the leading trio was closed by the Estonian Alexander Selevko (90.05).
– Yesterday, at the European Championships, it really makes you think: if only our guys would go to this rink, and they would – oh! In fact, everything we’ve seen so far is a great illustration of what competitive stress can have on athletes. The higher its level, the more powerful the release of norepinephrine.
On the one hand, this is not bad: noradrenaline causes a boost of energy, reduces the feeling of fear and increases the level of aggression. But if the athlete’s body is physiologically unable to cope with stress, the same norepinephrine begins to destroy proper coordination.
The athlete himself does not feel it. It seems that she does everything as in training, but in the end there are “butterflies” and other problems that suddenly begin to appear at the most inopportune moment, ”wrote Vaitsekhovskaya on the Telegram channel .
The skaters will present their free program on Friday, January 12.
