Italian figure skaters Lucrèce Beccari And Matteo Guarise won gold at the European Pair Skating Championships in Kaunas (Lithuania).
On Thursday, Beccari and Guarise won the free skate, receiving 132.14 points for the skate, and took the final first place with a score of 199.19 points.
Silver went to Anastasia Metelkina and Luka Berulava, representing Georgia, who only became a couple last summer. Metelkina and Berulava, who were in the lead after the short program, finished fifth in the free program (124.84). In total, for both programs, the skaters, each of whom had previously skated for Russia, received 196.14 points.
Another Italian pair, Rebecca Ghilardi/Filippo Ambrosini, won the bronze medal (195.68). Last year, this couple won silver.
Last year’s European champions, the Italians Sara Conti/Niccolò Macchii, took 6th place (187.25).
Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participating in competitions held under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
