Among the “neutrals” there is a champion and medalist of the Tokyo Olympics
International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) published a list of 30 Belarusians who officially received neutral status. There are no representatives of Russia in it.
This list includes athletes, as well as coaches, judges and medical personnel.
Among the athletes, among others, there is Olympic champion Ivan Litvinovich, as well as Olympic medalist Alina Garnasko – both of them won their medals in Tokyo.
Let us recall that in July 2023, the FIG executive committee allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under the auspices of the organization in a neutral status.
Then it was reported that representatives of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, who will receive the status of “individual neutral athlete,” will have the right to participate in FIG competitions from January 1, 2024. Thus, they missed the World Championships scheduled for 2023.
On December 1, the European Gymnastics General Assembly voted against allowing athletes and officials from Russia and Belarus to return to official competition from the beginning of 2024.
