Shakhtar will play a test match against the Dutch Fortuna Sittard. The Pitmen will play their first match under new coach Igor Jovicevich on Friday, July 22.
Earlier it was reported that Shakhtar plans to play three control games in the Netherlands. One of the Pitmen’s rivals will be Ajax. The fight will take place on July 26 in Amsterdam at the Johan Cruyff Arena as part of the Shakhtar Global Tour for Peace. All proceeds from the charity match will be used to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians affected by the war.
Shakhtar will also play a charity match against another Dutch representative, Utrecht. The fight will take place on July 30th.
The match with Fortuna is scheduled for 18:00. On the same day, July 22, reserve teams will play. The match will start at 16:00.
Recall, Shakhtar announced the appointment of Igor Jovičević as the head coach of the team. The agreement with the Croatian specialist is for two years.
The last UPL draw was ended ahead of schedule due to the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine. Shakhtar ended the season in first place and advanced to the Champions League group stage. Dnipro-1 became the third and will play in the Europa League.
The start of the new season of the Ukrainian Premier League is tentatively scheduled for August 23.
