“Russian figure skaters would create competition at the European Championships. The productions and compositions of our programs for girls are more interesting” – Mishina

Russian figure skaters have always been serious competitors in international tournaments, and the European Championships in Lithuania would be no exception, Russia’s Honored Coach Tatiana Mishina told .

The European Championships were held in Kaunas, Lithuania. Belgian Luna Hendrix won the women’s singles skating event. In total, she earned 213.25 points for the short and free programs. Tolyatti native Anastasia Gubanova (206.52), representing Georgia, won silver. The top three was closed by another representative of Belgium, Nina Pinzarrone (202.29).

— The girls at the European Championships had a logical final result. Hendricks was expected to win, even though she had many flaws. Gubanova did well, she handled the short and free programs well and performed well. The last warm-up was at a high level, but the others were weaker, made mistakes, fell and showed insufficiently complex content.

Gubanova should have been ahead of Pinzarrone, Anastasia’s level of skating is more feminine, there is both style and quality. Hendrix was forgiven for some things; there was a visible trend that the judges wouldn’t fault him too much. So everything went as planned and predictable.

— Tatiana Tarasova said that the medalists were lucky that there were no Russian girls, our skaters would have created a competition. Do you agree with this opinion?

– Of course, I agree, completely. Our girls would show elements of ultra-si, this is a particularity of our figure skaters. The productions and compositions of our skaters’ programs are more interesting. It is difficult to speak in the subjunctive, but our girls have always been in competition, and this time would be no exception,” Mishina told .

Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participating in competitions held under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine.
