Skier Savely Korostelev told that he was forced to run more than a kilometer with a barbell during the skiathlon at the Alfa-Bank Russian Cup in Kazan.
Korostelev took second place in the 20 km skiathlon, losing 3.3 seconds to Alexander Bolshunov. The third result was shown by Artem Maltsev (+4.1 seconds).
— Where was Bolshunov’s attack expected?
– The whole third round. Sergei Turyshev shouted to Melnichenko that Sasha would leave right away, so he decided to deceive him and leave alone (laughs). It’s a joke. I waited for him on the third lap, a little earlier, tried to constantly follow him on the descents, but still missed him.
—Is it cold or are you used to such cold weather?
— We trained in temperatures of minus 22 to minus 24 degrees. Yesterday, it was quite comfortable, the atmosphere was cool, nothing was frozen.
I rode over a kilometer without a pole, hit the side and broke it. Nothing unusual, just go lower. When the coach gave me a stick, I rolled in a snowdrift and made a snowman.
— What are your plans for the future?
— Training camp in Armenia, stage of the Russian Cup, Spartakiad.
– Green jersey until the end of the season?
“I hope so,” Korostelev said on .
The next stage of the Russian Cup will take place in Tyumen in early February.
