Figure skater Sorensen, accused of rape, was included in the Four Continents Championship bid

Canadian figure skater Nikolai Sorensen against whom accusations of rape were made, as well as Laurence Fournier-Baudry were among the participants in the Four Continents Championship among the dancing couples, according to the official website of the International Skating Union (ISU).

Media previously reported that Sorensen was accused of sexually assaulting an unnamed former figure skater and now coach of the United States in 2012. The woman, who was 22 at the time, described the rape in detail, saying she feared for her life. Due to these accusations, the Sorensen/Fournier-Baudry couple missed the Canadian Championships, which took place from January 8 to 14 in Calgary.

Sorensen is 34 years old, at the beginning of his career he played for Denmark and since the 2018/19 season he started to represent Canada. Paired with Fournier-Baudry, he took ninth place at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing and fifth at last year’s World Championships.

The Four Continents Championships will be held in Shanghai from January 29 to February 4.
