Olympic figure skating champion Alexei Urmanov spoke about the skater’s transition Andrei Mozalev to the group with Honored Coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze, noting that the correctness of the athlete’s decision will be determined by time.
Previously, the media reported that 20-year-old Mozalev left Kirill Davydenko’s group for Tutberidze. Later, Davydenko confirmed the transfer of the skater to another group.
— It is quite difficult to know to what extent Andrei’s decision is correct. I have no information on the reasons for his action or his relationship with his mentor. Generally speaking, without specifically addressing Mozalev, transitions and changes in something, for example the coaching staff, sometimes benefit athletes. But only time will tell how this will affect Andrei,” Urmanov told RT.
Mozalev, the 2020 junior world champion, took 11th place in the singles competition at December’s Russian Championships in Chelyabinsk.
