Lisbon wants to get a nine-figure sum for the Swedish striker
Lisbon Sporting declined the offer Chelsea for the striker Victor Diekeres amounting to 80-85 million euros, Portuguese media report.
The Londoners, who are in need of a quality scoring striker, offered a fixed sum of 80 million plus another 5 million in bonuses for the Swedish national team player. However, the Lions are not going to sell the forward for less than 100 million.
Győkeres is 25 years old. From 2018 to 2021 he belonged to Brighton, from where he moved to Coventry. He became a Sporting player last summer. At the Lisbon club, Victor managed to score 20 goals and give 10 assists in 24 matches. He also has five goals in 19 matches for the Swedish national team.
Sporting leads the Portuguese championship after half the distance (17 rounds), 1 point ahead of Benfica. In the next round, the green-whites will play away against Visela.
Chelsea are in ninth place in the Premier League. A week later, on January 23, the Blues will play the return leg of the League Cup semi-final against Middlesbrough. In the first match, the team for which Ukrainian Mikhail Mudrik plays lost 0:1.
