The ex-player and coach of Dynamo Kyiv has a contract with the Polish club until the end of the season
Polish second division club Zaglebie (Sosnowiec) officially announced his appointment as head coach Alexander Khatskevich.
The ex-footballer and coach of Dynamo Kiev replaced Arthur Derbin, under whom Zaglebie scored only 11 points in 19 rounds of the Fortuna 1 League (the second level of Polish football after Ekstraklasa) and is 8 points behind the saving 15th place.
The contract with the 50-year-old specialist is concluded until June 30, 2024. The composition of the new coaching staff will be announced later.
Khatskevich gave seven and a half years of his playing career (1996 – 2004) to Dynamo Kyiv. Subsequently, he coached the main team of Kiev (2012, 2017 – 2019), and also worked with Dynamo-2. For two years in the middle of the last decade he headed the Belarusian national team. Alexander’s last place of work was Cypriot Karmiotissa (only six matches in the fall of 2022).
Zaglebie Sosnowiec lost the last five matches of the championship, and won its last victory back in September.
The next match in the Fortuna 1 League will be played by Khatskevich’s new club at home against Pruszkow on February 18.
