Athletistic / Figure skating. Former Russian figure skater, Olympic team championship champion Alexander Enbert spoke about the judging at the European Championships in Kaunas (Lithuania). Former Russian figure skater Anastasia Gubanova, representing Georgia, took second place, losing to Belgian Luna Hendricks.

According to Enbert, the judges unfairly underestimated Gubanova.

Enbert appreciated Davis and Smolkin’s performance at the European Figure Skating Championships

“The first thing I want to say is that Anastasia Gubanova’s components could have been higher. She had excellent performances in the short and free programs. In the short program she had three and a half points behind Luna Hendricks in components – I think that’s a lot. Maybe Luna Hendrix should be richer in components, but not that much.

But in the end, Luna is first, Anastasia is second, that’s probably how it should be, I agree with the judges. The only question here is that Anastasia’s scores should be higher, even if the venue is the same,” Enbert was quoted as saying by “Championship”.
