Olympic champion Sautin on Russian jumpers missing from the Paris Olympics: “It’s a shame for the guys, but that’s the situation now”

Double Olympic champion and multiple Olympic medalist in diving Dmitri Sautin told that he regrets that Russian divers will miss the Paris Olympics.

No requests for neutral status from the Russians in the sport were submitted before the registration deadline for February’s World Aquatics Championships in Doha. And this will be the last qualifying start for the Games.

– Well, of course, it’s sad, we are in such a situation now. Sorry guys. We have older athletes for whom this could be the last Olympics, but there is nothing we can do about it. They will prepare for the BRICS Games and the Friendship Games,” Sautin told .

On Tuesday, the President of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin announced that Svetlana Moiseeva had left the post of head coach of the Russian national team and it was proposed to replace her with the two-time Olympic bronze medalist and double world champion Gleb Galperin.

— You changed coaches on the team. Gleb Galperin was offered to lead the team.

– I can’t say anything yet. Galperin occupies another position: in the presidium. So far I can’t say anything about the connection with this and how everything was resolved so quickly. I can’t weigh everything yet,” Sautin said.

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
