Athletistic / Figure skating. Russian figure skater Alena Kostornaya said that she misses international competitions, but considers Russian competitions more interesting. Since the 2023/2024 season, she has been associated with Georgy Kunitsa.
“I miss the times when we participated in international competitions. However, now I have a lot of opportunities at competitions. The Russian Figure Skating Federation does everything, gives everything. Sometimes our tournaments are more interesting than what is currently happening in the world figure skating.
I believe that one day the Russians will participate in the European Championships. One day it will happen. That doesn’t necessarily mean I will or won’t. But one day,” Kostornaya said, as quoted by Match TV.
Since March 2022, Russian figure skaters have been suspended from participating in all competitions organized under the auspices of the International Skating Union due to the behavior of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. Note that Alena Kostornaya competed in single skating until 2023, and in 2020 she became European champion.
