Olympic high jump champion Maria Lasitskene believes that there is not enough competition in Russian competitions.
Lasitskene on Thursday became the winner of the Grand Prix of the Moscow region in Erino with a height of 1.95 m, this is the best result of the season both for the athlete and in Russia. Later, Lasickienė attempted to clear the bar at 2.00m, but all three attempts were unsuccessful.
– How did you spend the two days before departure?
— Two days were strange, interesting and instructive, because the mood and the weather changed. I always wanted to jump in Brest, but it was clear that it was not desirable for me to jump every day. It was Gennady Garikovich (Gabrilyan – coach Lasitskene) who calmly decided to go to Erino. It’s a shame that it didn’t work out in Brest, because the atmosphere is always good there, the jumps were always quite good, but let’s hope for the future,” Lasitskene said in a video broadcast on the ARAF Telegram channel. .
– How would you rate today’s result?
— Positively. I feel good, nothing serious worries me. Naturally, I want more competition, I want more goosebumps, more worries, that here two meters are standing. But I tried to trick myself, to beat myself up. I think I already have bruises there. Well, let’s work.
– For two starts you try to overcome two meters. Maybe at the next start you will succeed?
– I thought you would say: “Maybe put 2.01 or 1.99?” Next departure? Heraklion is a favorite stadium, where there is always a good sporting atmosphere.
