January 20th – a big day for Ukrainian boxing. For the first time in five and a half years, the capital’s Sports Palace will host a big boxing evening and for the first time in almost 16.5 years, a championship fight. On Saturday as part of a big eventorganized by the promotion company Sparta Boxing Promotions, Ukrainian Aram Faniyan and Mexican Francisco Mercado will hold WBF junior welterweight title fight. But in addition to the sports component, the event will also have another side, even more important – social.

The large-scale boxing evening will be for charity. The goal is 5,000,000 hryvnia to restore the Nikolaev sports school. It was destroyed by the Russian army during massive shelling of the city at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

In addition, the organizers will hold a charity auction, all proceeds from which will go to the needs of the consolidated paramilitary patrol police unit named after. Nestor Makhno and the Shock Company of the BPAK “Combat Khrushchi”. As part of the boxing evening, there will be performances by star artists: Kozak Siromakha, Svetlana Tarabarova, Alena Omargalieva.

Famous Ukrainian boxers spoke in support of the event and charity fundraiser.

“Sport has given me a lot. Especially the time when I was boxing at the Nikolaev children’s sports school. Now this school has been destroyed by an enemy Russian missile. We are raising funds to rebuild the school and shelter. I ask everyone who has the opportunity to join,” said one of the strongest Ukrainian boxers, a native of Nikolaev, Sergei Derevyanchenko.

Two ex-world champions also supported their colleague – former WBA title holder Yuri Nuzhnenko and Alexander Gvozdik, who held the WBC belt.

“I ask you to support the charity initiative. On January 20, during a boxing evening in Kyiv, a charity auction will be held, the proceeds will go to the restoration of a sports school in Nikolaev, which was destroyed as a result of shelling by the Russian army. Together we are strong,” said Gvozdyk.

“We kindly ask you to come and support the charity initiative, as well as the Ukrainian army,” Nuzhnenko said.

It should be noted that many lots will be put up for auction on both military and boxing themes. Everyone is unique. Among them is an exclusive boxing jewelry made of white gold and diamonds, made by the famous Ukrainian jeweler Vyacheslav Bulkovsky.
