Canadian world champion pole vaulter Sean Barbier died at the age of 29, reports AP.
Barber died Wednesday at his home in Kingwood, Texas, with the athlete’s agent, Paul Doyle, confirming the death on social media. The cause of death is not yet known. The source points out that the Canadian had health problems.
Barber holds the Canadian record in the men’s pole vault with a mark of 6.00 metres, which he set in January 2016.
The athlete won the 2015 World Championships in Beijing with a score of 5.90, giving Canada its first ever gold medal in the pole vault. At the 2016 Olympics, Barber took 10th place.
