President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov believes that the inability of Russian marathon runners to participate in the Paris Olympics was a predictable consequence of the restrictions imposed.
Russian marathon runners will not take part in the final qualifying event for the Olympics – the World Championships in Doha in February – because none of them have been granted neutral status.
“The inability to compete at the Olympic Games was the logical conclusion of all the restrictions that were introduced. First, the appropriate entry requirements were announced, and then subsequently there was no chance of qualifying. So it was a predictable result,” Salnikov told .
The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
