For the first time, three Ukrainian women will play in the fourth round of the Grand Slam tournament

History was rewritten by Kostyuk, Yastremskaya and Svitolina

Ukrainian tennis players Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya And Elina Svitolina successful performances at Australian Open 2024 set a new record. For the first time, three of our compatriots will play in the 1/8 finals of the same Grand Slam tournament.

Until 2024, two representatives of Ukraine reached this stage three times. In all three cases, one of them was Elina Svitolina: in 2019, together with Yastremskaya (Wimbledon), and in 2023, twice in company with Lesya Tsurenko (Roland Garros and again Wimbledon).

And now at the Australian Open, the achievement was first repeated, and then surpassed – thanks to Svitolina’s victory over Swiss Victoria Golubic. Let us remind you that earlier Marta Kostyuk and Dayana Yastremskaya made it to the 1/8 finals in Melbourne.

Kostyuk will fight Maria Timofeeva in the next round – the fight will take place on Sunday, January 21. The next day, Yastremskaya will face the 18th racket of the tournament, Victoria Azarenka, and Svitolina will face the young Czech Linda Noskova, who sensationally knocked out the first racket of the world, Iga Sventek, from the tournament.
