Figure skater Artem Gritsaenko playing in tandem with Elizaveta Osokina told that he experienced “unreal emotions” after winning the Russian show jumping championship.
On Saturday, Osokina/Gritsaenko won the Russian Show Jumping Championship. Second place went to Alexandra Boykova/Dmitry Kozlovsky, third place was shared by Anastasia Mishina/Alexander Gallyamov and Ekaterina Chikmareva/Matvey Yanchenkov.
— We didn’t expect much when we won against Mishina and Gallyamov, we were delighted. For us it makes no sense, we were completely unprepared for this and planned to stay somewhere in the top four. The emotions are not yet digested.
In the final, we played first, skated our elements, almost without mistakes, but we were mentally prepared for the fact that we would not win. Beating the leaders twice is a miracle. When the final result was known, the emotions were unreal, I wanted to jump.
It was very interesting and fun to play in this format. Our team leaders supported us and congratulated us very warmly. Many thanks to them for that. It was our first time in such an environment; we didn’t even know what to do, where to go. The guys got us on the right track.
— I was unlucky at the Russian championship, now victory is in the high competition. Boomerang effect?
— The coaches joked that it was a boomerang for the Russian Championship, which was rewarded for us. I think after all, it’s all about an attitude. If we had counted on something, we probably would have made a mistake somewhere. And today, we left with peace of mind, we weren’t worried. We didn’t do anything supernatural and didn’t intend to do anything. We had to make our elements clean and good,” Gritsaenko told .
