The International Skating Union (ISU) has approved the transfer of the 6th leg of the Figure Skating Grand Prix Series of the 2022/23 season from Russia to Finnish Espoo, according to to place organizations.
The contest will run from November 25-27. Earlier in July, the ISU released reports that the stage transferred from Russia would be given to Espoo, and the tournament, which China refused due to the coronavirus, to Britain’s Sheffield. However, according to , this was a premature announcement, and later the ISU removed both cities from the schedule.
Thursday’s statement notes that the ISU has received notice from the Chinese federation that it is not possible to host the Grand Prix in that country in 2022. The host for this stage will be announced “soon”.
The full schedule of Grand Prix stages for the 2022/23 season is as follows:
1. Skate America – October 21-23 (Norwood, USA),
2. Skate Canada – October 28-30 (Mississauga, Canada)
3. French Grand Prix – November 4-6 (Angers, France),
4. November 11-13 (not yet determined)
5. NHK Trophy – November 18-20 (Sapporo, Japan)
6. November 25-27 (Espoo, Finland)
Grand Prix Final – December 8-11 (Turin, Italy).
Russian and Belarusian figure skaters do not participate in tournaments under the auspices of the ISU due to a ban imposed by the union in the context of the situation in Ukraine. In Russia next season will be held an analogue of the international series under the conditional name of the Russian Grand Prix.
