One man died and 34 people were hospitalized after competing in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon in Hong Kong, The Standard reports.
Around noon local time, a man in his thirties suddenly lost consciousness on a subway station platform. The victim, named Chun, was taken by ambulance to hospital, where he died. According to sources, the man fell ill after running a half marathon.
During and after the races, a total of 842 runners sought help, suffering mainly from bruises and sprains. 34 people were hospitalized, including one in critical condition and four in serious condition. A man collapsed at the finish line of the 10 kilometer race and suffered cardiac arrest, but his condition is improving.
In total, around 74,000 runners took part in the event.
