Blancos consider buying Kepa for 30 million euros too expensive
Madrid Real offered a new contract to the Ukrainian goalkeeper Andrey LuninSpanish journalists report.
The new agreement runs until 2030. Blancos are ready to increase the Ukrainian’s salary from 2.5 million to 5.5 million euros so that he remains at the club. Madrid consider Lunin’s extension a better option than the full transfer of Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea for 30 million euros.
It was previously reported that Real intends to retain the Ukrainian as a backup to main goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Lunin will have to choose whether to stay in the team or move to another club with great chances of getting a place in the team.
Lunin won seven trophies as a member of the Madrid club. Note that a number of European clubs are interested in the player’s services – Chelsea, Newcastle and Bayern.
This season, the Ukrainian has played 12 matches for Blancos in all competitions. Lunin missed 11 goals and kept five clean sheets.
Real are in second place in La Liga, one point behind Girona and with a game in hand. In the next round, Blancos will host Almeria on January 21. The meeting starts at 17:15.
