Olympic champion Natalya Bestemyanova explained the third place of the sports couple Anastasia Michina /Alexander Galliamov at the Russian Show Jumping Championship because the tournament format is not suitable for figure skaters.
On Saturday, world and European champions, Olympic team champions and current national champions Mishina and Gallyamov took third place at the Russian Show Jumping Championship in Moscow. Alexandra Boykova/Dmitry Kozlovsky finished second, Elizaveta Osokina/Artem Gritsaenko won.
– Third place is not what they expected. I know Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov as an always stable duo. Their first jump attempt was wonderful, everything went well, but when they had to do it a second time, mistakes started to happen. The fact is that they are used to doing everything at once, the first time. This competition was therefore not for their “physics”, nor for their psychology. They are always unique athletes. That’s why it didn’t work out today, even though both are in excellent shape,” Bestemyanova said, as quoted by RT.
On Sunday, a team tournament will take place at the Russian Show Jumping Championships.
