Olympic champion Vaitsekhovskaya considers Tutberidze’s harsh comment to US journalist strange

Olympic diving champion and RT journalist Elena Vaytsekhovskaya commented on the words of the figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze who called American blogger Dave Leese “shit”.

In June, The Skating Lesson YouTube channel host Liz announced that Tutberidze’s daughter Diana Davis , performing in ice dance as a duo with Gleb Smolkin, will be considered by the United States Figure Skating Federation for a possible transition. Later, the dancers denied the rumor about the change of sports citizenship.

– Another round of Internet bickering between American blogger Dave Leese and Eteri Tutberidze and another pointless comment about which of them is most right. Although in reality the problem is on a completely different level: when a whole series of facts come together which, I see, are not disputed (the American Federation’s scrutiny of Russian figure skaters, marriage concluded between athletes, giving to the partner the right to American citizenship, etc.), the journalist has every right to interpret these facts as it seems logical to him.

If the actors do not find it necessary to clarify the situation in a timely manner, then they must be prepared for the interpretations of others, whether they like it or not. Exactly according to the popular expression of Tamara Moskvina: “I prefer to talk about myself and my athletes myself than others will talk about them.”

Therefore, such a sharp comment from the coach seems at least strange,” RT journalist Vaitsekhovskaya wrote on the Telegram channel.

Last season, Davis and Smolkin won the silver medal in the Russian championship and took 14th place at the Beijing Olympics.
