Athletistic / Others. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne (Switzerland) has decided to disqualify three Russian weightlifters for violating anti-doping rules. Among those suspended was 2010 European Championship silver medalist Mikhail Gobeev.
According to TASS, Gobeev’s disqualification period will end in April 2026. The other two suspended athletes were Armen Alekyan and Dmitry Chaly. The first will be able to resume professional sport in June 2026, and the second in September at the same time.
Armen Alekyan is the winner of the 2012 European Youth Championship and Dmitry Chaly is the winner of the 2013 Russian Cup.
All were disqualified for four years based on the LIMS database of the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory. Interestingly, the athletes committed an anti-doping rule violation in 2012, so all their results since then have been voided.
