Multiple Russian champion in the 100 meters Kristina Makarenko commenting on the situation with the suspension of the Novogorsk training camp, told that athletes are afraid to talk about the problems.

On Tuesday, Makarenko reported on her Telegram channel that she and her husband, hurdler Artem Makarenko, and all-around athlete Arseny Elfimov, had been kicked out of the Novogorsk training camp for failing to show up for the morning training. According to the 26-year-old athlete, his coach contacted the head coach of the Russian national team, Ruslan Mashchenko, before the training camp and agreed that his athletes would not attend training.

— How do you plan to continue to resolve the situation?

– This is already commonplace, in all situations – everything is forgotten. I really don’t want to prove anything to anyone, I told them because the situation was unpleasant for me and that’s it.

“Won’t this make your life more difficult in the future?”

“I can easily do without training, that’s what we did.” There were a few training camps that were very necessary, we went to them. We succeeded by living in Moscow and training at home. You can prepare yourself at no cost. For me, it’s much more effective. People who live in areas where there are no conditions, where they want to cry, it’s hard for them without training. I can afford not to attend training camp.

—Aren’t you afraid of a negative answer?

“There will always be a supportive side and a side that says how arrogant you are, how bad you are.” I was ready to face a negative wave. I think there are some issues that need to be addressed. All athletes are afraid to say something because they risk getting hit back. I am courageous in this regard. I hope the head coach will see the situation differently,” Makarenko told .
