The All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) has published the decisions and recommendations of the World Athletics Council on the status of ARAF restoration. The Council was held in the American Eugene on the eve of the World Championships in Athletics.
The Council adopted the following recommendations of the Task Force:
1. The Task Force continues to monitor ARAF’s implementation of the Recovery Plan and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), guided, to the extent possible in the current circumstances, by reports from international experts . If necessary, the working group meets with the ARAF to discuss the progress of the recovery plan and the key performance indicators.
2. The working group organizes an independent audit of ARAF and progress against the recovery plan and key performance indicators; the audit must be carried out between mid and end of October 2022.
3. WA Working Group:
– will report on their work at the next meeting of the WA Council in November 2022;
– provide the WA Council with:
a. the results of ARAF’s independent audit, progress against the recovery plan and KPIs, and
b. depending on the results of the independent audit, post-recovery conditions to be taken into account; and, if possible, submit post-reinstatement conditions for approval at the next meeting in November 2022 on the basis that such review and/or any Board approval would not constitute a proposal for reinstatement of ARAF at that time. -the.
Earlier on March 1, the WA Council suspended Russian athletes, coaches and officials from participating in all competitions held under the auspices of World Athletics “for the foreseeable future”. Later, the European Athletics Association also joined in this decision.
