The Council of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) has extended the suspension of the membership of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) until November, according to the official website of the international organization.
— Following the report of the ARAF Restoration Task Force, the Board endorsed the recommendation to conduct an independent review of ARAF processes and roadmap and implementation progress KPIs by mid-end October 2022.
The task force will also continue to oversee and monitor the implementation of the recovery plan by ARAF and will report the results of the audit at the next board meeting in November 2022, according to the statement.
In November 2015, ARAF was temporarily suspended from World Athletics due to an anti-doping rule violation, due to which Russian athletes participated in international competitions in a neutral status. Later, an international organization published a number of criteria according to which the ARAF can be reinstated as a member of World Athletics.
In March 2022, the World Athletics Council banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in the World, European and Diamond League Championships, even in neutral status, due to the situation in Ukraine.
