Ukraine won two medals on the eighth day of the World Games

Our team repeated its record for the number of gold medals won in the tournament.

The 2022 World Games continues in Birmingham (Alabama, USA), where the Ukrainian team is participating.

On the eighth day of competition, our athletes won two medals in two sports – one gold and one silver.

The World Games champions in sports acrobatics are Victoria Kozlovskaya at Taisiya Marchenko (pair). This is the second gold for Ukraine in this sport among women in history and the first since 1993.

Ukrainian Daniel Filchenko get silver in water skiing (trick discipline – figure skating, water skiing tricks). Our compatriot won the qualification with the best result, but lost to the American athlete in the final.

It is noteworthy that Filchenko studied at a university in the United States, but from the beginning of a massive war in Ukraine, he was on the Dnieper, where he volunteered.

Ukraine had two more hopes for a medal in jiu-jitsu, but our athletes lost in the bronze finals.

In total, Ukraine currently has 34 awards, 10 of which are gold. Thus, our team repeated the absolute record for the number of first places won in a World Games. Previously, Ukraine won 10 gold awards in 2017.

In medal standings, our team is in fifth place. Germany leads with 21 gold medals.

In total, 143 medal sets out of 223 have already been played at the World Games. Representatives of 68 countries climbed the podium.
