Figure skater Muravyova spoke about her work on a quadruple jump

Silver medalist of the Russian Figure Skating Championship Sofia Muravyova talked about working on a quadruple jump.

At the Russian Championships held in Chelyabinsk, Muravyova, who trains in the group of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, took second place. Adelia Petrosyan won the tournament.

“This season, I remembered the old exercises I did before. I started working with them and everything became easier. In general, there are small loopholes that allow you to overcome difficulties.

— Evgeni Plushenko has performed the triple Axel magnificently during his long career. Did his advice help you prepare for your jump?

— He always gives advice. And not only that – he rejoices, sometimes scolds, helps. We are always in touch, he will always respond.

And I learned the triple axel in a week and a half. This was after jumping the quadruple Salchow. Dmitry Sergeevich (Mikhailov) helped me more with the trixel. When the first successful attempts began, Evgeny Viktorovich’s advice helped me: how to stay calm and not get upset if the jump did not go well.

– What to do if the jump doesn’t work?

— If everything is really bad, move on to other exercises, don’t lower your head, don’t get angry. And from a technical point of view, go practice the double axel in all its variations, in different approaches, with one hand, with the other.

– Aren’t you afraid of jumping?

— At the start of the season, it was scary. I do not know why. Then I discovered my secret that helps me deal with this anxiety.

— You spoke of the quadruple Salchow. Is his return possible?

– Evgeniy Viktorovich believes in me. And I believe in him and I believe in myself. I haven’t touched this jump in a long time, but we’re working on it now. There have been good attempts, but I haven’t left yet. It has to be adjusted according to the technique,” Muravyova said, as quoted by Sport24.
