Ginzburg’s team beat one of the leaders of their group for the second time
Prometheus won an important and not very predictable victory over Hapoel Tel Aviv in the away match of the 16th round of the group stage of the basketball Eurocup – 113:105.
The beginning of the meeting was an equal fight, but gradually the Ukrainian team increased its advantage and won the quarter with a difference of +7. During the second period of the game, Ronen Ginzburg’s team managed to maintain a small lead over the opponent.
After a long break, the hosts seemed to have turned the tide of the match. The last quarter began with the score 82:81 in favor of Hapoel, but he did not lead the score anymore. An exemplary ten-minute run from Prometheus – and ultimately a well-deserved victory.
Prometheus set a personal scoring record in the EuroCup – previously, the Ukrainian team had never scored more than 105 points per match in two seasons.
Ginzburg’s team remained sixth in the table, but by the end of the round they can secure a place in the playoffs – for this it is necessary that Venice does not win against BC Wolves.
The Israeli team, having lost to Prometheus for the second time this season, remained second, but now risks losing a direct ticket to the quarterfinals.
In the penultimate round of the group stage, Prometheus will play against the aforementioned Venice on January 30.
