Silver medalist of the Russian Figure Skating Championship Sofia Muravyova spoke about the first days at the academy of the double Olympic champion Evgenia Plushenko as well as training with Alexandra Troussova .
— Do you remember the first training session with Evgeni Plushenko?
– I remember. It was in Kislovodsk. I came out after a month’s break, collected all the triples, everything went well for me. I was delighted! I remember that he then asked me what to call me – Sonya or Sofa. And out of habit, I answered: “Sofa.” Although I am not Sofa at all, but Sonya. And as a result, Evgeniy Viktorovich called me Sofa for some time, until he learned from someone that I was finally Sonya. In general, my mother initially wanted to call me not Sophia, but Sonya. But when registering her name, she was told they didn’t spell it that way – neither Sophia nor Sofia. We chose Sophia because it seemed closer.
So the first workout I did, but the second workout I fell all over the place. Evgeniy Viktorovich reassured me: “It’s okay, you haven’t skated for a long time, yesterday it was all adrenaline.” In general, we had good contact straight away.
— At that time, Alexandra Trusova was skating with Plushenko. What emotions did you feel when you went out on the same ice with her?
“I was always afraid of disturbing her.” He will also scold you (laughs). When she quadrupled past me, I jumped over the side if the door was open. They tried not to bother her, and if they did, they apologized later. But then we became friends, Sasha gave me advice that helped me, ”Muravyova is quoted in Sport24.
At the Russian Championship held in Chelyabinsk, Muravyova took second place, losing to Adelia Petrosyan, who works in the group of honored coach of Russia Eteri Tutberidze.
