The organization decided to offer Russian and Belarusian athletes the opportunity to participate in a regatta called “Last Chance”, where Olympic licenses will be competed. These competitions will take place in France from April 20 to 27.
The World Sailing press release highlights that if they successfully qualify and meet the criteria of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Russian and Belarusian athletes will participate in the Olympic regatta under a neutral flag.
However, the same statement indicates that World Sailing continues to recommend that athletes with Russian or Belarusian nationality should not be allowed to participate in competitions or classes other than those specified above.
