Former UFC world champion wants a rematch with the “Gypsy King”
Former UFC world champion Francis Ngannou believes that the world champion according to WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO Alexander Usik has a good chance in a fight against the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury. At the same time, the Congolese wants the victory of the “Gypsy King” in order to have a rematch with him.
“If I’m being objective, I’ll say Tyson Fury is the favorite. Of course, I’m not discounting Usyk. I know he can win this fight. His chances are very good, maybe even very good. But I still choose Tyson and I still want him to win so I can rematch him.”
The Usyk-Fury fight will officially take place on February 17. The title of absolute heavyweight champion will be at stake. The event will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The special guest of the event will be Lennox Lewis.
Previously, the WBC sanctioned a rematch between the Ukrainian and the Briton. The president of the organization, Mauricio Suleiman, said that he approved the corresponding request from the promoters of both boxers.
Usik fought his last fight on August 27 in Wroclaw, Poland. The Ukrainian knocked out Daniel Dubois in the 9th round and defended his championship titles.
Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision. It was reported that the Briton received two cuts in a fight with the former UFC champion.
