President of the Russian Diving Federation Stanislav Druzhinin said that Russian jumpers refused to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris due to discriminatory conditions from the International Olympic Committee (CIO ) and the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics).

Russian divers can only participate in international competitions in neutral status if they accept the conditions proposed by World Aquatics. None of the Russian athletes are registered for the last qualifying competition – February’s World Aquatics Championships in Doha.

— Russian divers will not participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This is a final and irrevocable decision. Our divers cannot participate in the Olympic Games in neutral status. The International Olympic Committee and the International Aquatics Federation World Aquatics have set discriminatory conditions that contradict the sporting principles of the Olympic movement. We therefore did not participate in the World Championships in Doha, which will take place in February and constitute the last qualifying competition for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Champions of Russia and winners of the Russian Cup, winners of the European and world championships, who had every right to participate in the qualifying tournament and win a ticket to the Olympic Games, cannot participate in the competition, because they are members of Dynamo, CSKA. and other organizations associated with security forces. There is no point in guiding athletes of a different level. This is a violation of sporting principles and a threat to their safety.

International competitions which ignore the sporting principle and claim global status, but favor political decisions to select their participants, will very quickly lose their weight and importance in the world of sport. It’s a shame that the Olympics, which should have the best, turned out like this, ”Druzhinin wrote on the Telegram channel.

The FINA World Championships will take place in Doha from February 2 to 18. The 2024 Olympic Games will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
