Koval: We are getting into shape faster than expected. There will definitely be newcomers

Zarya’s mentor is upset by the result of the test match, but also notes the positive aspects

Acting head coach Zari Yuri Koval commented on his team’s defeat from Cracovia in a control match at a training camp in Turkey.

“The result is always one of the main criteria. The ability to fight to the end in any situation, desire is always important. Without these qualities and without the will to win, nothing will happen. We just gave everyone the opportunity to play today. Bol even played the whole match.”

“Many of the guys who took the field in the second half of the match did not have match practice, for various reasons, at the end of that year. Almost everyone except Michin did not play for a long time. There are problems in the organization of the game and psychology. We are preparing for the resumption of the championship. Let’s see what the problems are. There is no disappointment with the result. There is an assessment, and this is the most important thing now.”

“As for readiness, we are getting into shape even faster than we expected. There is no such thing that the team is tired. But we are not forcing preparations either. There are many matches ahead. We will analyze it. There are points about positions on the field and selection. Gulko received microtrauma. Batagov also has microdamages. We understand that there is no training camp without injuries. They’ll miss a bit. We’re sure they’ll hire us soon.”

“Will there be newbies? Yes, definitely. In order to understand the depth of the warehouse, you need to look at those we have, at the capabilities of each. Test matches exist for this purpose, to understand who you can continue to work with and who you can’t.”

Let us remind you that the Lugansk team lost to its opponent from Poland in its first control match as part of the Turkish training camp – 0:2.

Zorya will play their next test match on January 31 against Jagiellonia. In total, Koval’s team has agreed to hold five fights, but they are still considering options for additional sparring.

Zarya takes 14th place in the Ukrainian Championship, gaining 12 points. Koval’s team will open the spring part of the season with a match against Vorskla. The base date for the 18th round of the UPL is February 24.
