Figure skater Arina Kchetskaya told that the competition at the St. Petersburg Championship is very high, because among the participants there are strong singles players with experience in tournaments at the federal level.
The St. Petersburg championship began on Saturday morning at the Figure Skating Academy. Arina Kshetskaya scored 64.52 points for the short program and is in 4th place among girls when the last participant remains to compete.
– This tournament is very important for me – I want to join the main team. Today, the concentration was therefore maximum and, fortunately, the rental was a success. Competing for girls is not easy. I would say very big. Many St. Petersburg girls who participated in the Russian championship perform. As a result, they have experience speaking at the federal level, which is a huge advantage. I put a lot of effort into preparing for the Russian Championship, but even now I tried not to give up.
At the recent show jumping tournament, I was very impressed with the girls who had just reached this level. And so, like beginners, they were not afraid, they jumped with confidence. They showed themselves, now the whole country knows them.
At the Russian Championships, in my case, excitement played a role. Yet, for the first time, an unusual environment. The short program didn’t work, but before the free program I pulled myself together. I tried to disconnect from the tension, from the atmosphere of excitement, ”Arina told the correspondent.
At the December Russian Championship, Kshetskaya took 16th place.
