Athletistic/ Others. The head of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) Sebastian Coe commented on the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from participation in the World Championships, which will begin on July 15 in the United States.

“It was done from a very clear point of view. It was about fair competition. It would be unimaginable to hold a world championship with the participation of athletes from Belarus and Russia, when athletes Ukrainians would have to overcome enormous difficulties to get here,” Coe quotes AP.

Coe stressed that the sanctions against the athletes extend “for the foreseeable future”.

On March 1, the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) did not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under the organization’s auspices.
